Mod 10 Flashcards
Pressure
the force required to distribute embalming fluid throughout the body
Potential Pressure
the pressure indicated by the injector gauge needle when the injector motor is running and the arterial tubing is clamped off.
Actual Pressure
indicated by the injector gauge needle when the arterial tube is open and the arterial solution is flowing into the body
Differential Pressure
the difference between potential pressure and actual pressure
Rate Of Flow
how fast or slow something is done over time
Distribution
the delivery of a solution from the embalming machine into the artery
Diffusion
the movement of arterial solution from inside the vascular system, intravascular, through the walls of the capillaries and into the tissues.
Osmosis
a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one equalizing the concentrations on each side of the membrane
Hypertonic
the movement of embalming solution from the vascular system into tissue space
Hypotonic
a solution having less concentration of dissolved than the solution to which it is compared
Isotonic
A solution having a greater concentration of dissolved solute than the solution to which it is compared
Dialysis
the separation of particles in a liquid on the basis of differences in their ability to pass through a membrane
Gravity Filtration
extravascular movement of preservative fluids by gravitational force to the dependent areas of the body
