What is Apron Area used for?
The apron area is set aside for the loading, unloading or maintenance of aircraft.

What is the red and white road system?
The road system which is reserved for the movements of vehicle not equipped with radios around the apron areas.

What does RESA stand for and what is it?
Runway End Safety Area.
The safety area at each end of the runway at Auckland Airport if aircraft overshoot or undershoot the runway. Signs either side of the RESA require vehicles to give way to aircraft likely to pass over the road.
What are the three key measures an airside driver must undertake as outlined in the Statement of Purpose?
1) Always enter the Airside Area, drive and carry out work duties in a safe and appropriate manner.
2) Ensure that driving and parking of vehicles and equipment do not impede aircraft operations or
movement on aprons.
3) Be aware of the aviation environment and its inherent dangers.
The Airside Driving Rules are designed to meet what requirements?
The requirements of the Civil Aviation Rule, Part 139.119, 139.203(d)(12)(i), and other relevant legislation.

An appropriate level of caution is required.
Be aware of the presence of Airfield Access Controllers on foot in the area.
You must put you vehicle into neutral with the hand or foot brake engaged while at the gate house and while being screened by Airfield Access Controllers.
How many ADP categories are there and what are they for?
There are 3 categories (stages)
Stage 1:
Driver who operate solely on the red/white, blue/white, perimeter road and aprons and do not operate withing the manoeuvring area.
Stage 2:
Permitted to drive on the manoeuvring area subject to clearance from Air Traffic Control.
Stage 3:
Same as Stage 2 but can also drive during low visibility operation (LVO) conditions.
Note:
Stage 2 and 3 permits require the driver to be in a vehicle that has a functioning UHF radio, MLAT transponder and beacon.
How many AVP categories are there and what are they for?

Awareness of operational hazards on the airfield and apron.
Each employer will be responsible for training their driver(s) in the safe and correct operation of any vehicle or equipment the driver is to operate airside.
How many attempts are allowed for the computer-based ADP test before an employer needs to to request further attempts?
Three attempts.
If you fail the first attempt there’s a 1 week stand-down.
If you fail the second attempt there’s a 2 week stand-down.
If a 4th attempt is approved, there will be a 1 month stand-down and the employer must show evidence of remedial training prior to re-sitting. If you fail the 4th attempt, no further attempts will be permitted.
What must an applicant complete after the ADP to get the licence?
What the time frame for this?
The applicant must complete a training log.
Must be a minimum of 10 hours training and must be logged over a minimum of one week and must have at least 8 separate entries.
Is there a need for a completed Driver Training Log should the ADP be due for renewal?
The Driver Training Log is required for initial issue of an ADP, or where an ADP has been expired for greater than 6 months or after an extended suspension of 6 months.
How long is the ADP valid for?
3 years.
How long is the Probationary Period for new licence holders?
3 months.
Which behaviour will not be tolerated during the Probationary Period?
1) any AIN with associated demerits, or
2) any driving accident:
will incur an immediate stand down of the probationary driver while an investigation is conducted.
Do ADP holders need to carry their ADP at all times?
Yes.
Are drivers allowed to drive airside without carrying their ADP?
No.
What must the Permit Holder do in case of loss or theft of any ADP?
Immediately report loss or theft of the Airside Driving Permit to the ADP/AVP Permit Office or if after hours, to Landside Operations (Monitoring position) on extension 98817 (2569817) or Apron on extension 98990 (256-8990).
In what cases will an ADP be suspended or revoked?
1) the holders CSS Airport Identity Card expires
2) the holders NZ drivers licence expires, is revoked or become invalid for any reason
3) the holder breaches any rule in the Airside Driving Rules or Airport Workers’ Rules.
What does POFA stand for?
Place of first arrival
Auckland Airport is approved as a Place of First Arrival (POFA).
What legislative act does this come from?

What key requirements do drivers need to abide by that are specified by MPI?
1) No food can be removed from aircraft and taken landside unless to an approved waste disposal facility
2) No food to be removed from the aircraft for the consumption of airside service providers
3) No food that is taken airside (eg lunch) can be taken back landside
4) General rubbish from aircraft and biosecurity risk items (food, plant material, sharps etc) cannot be left unattended
5) Cargo containing biosecurity risk items must be transported in pest-proof packaging
6) If a driver notices an animal or pest coming from ULD or water that contains mosquito larvae, they should inform AOT or MPI
What behaviours will not be tolerated when working airside?
What happens if you engage in unsatisfactory behaviour?
- refusal to accept an AIN
- threatening behaviour
- verbal abuse
- careless behaviour which may result in harm/damage
- wilful disregard for the airside driving rules
- Inappropriate dealing with biosecurity risk material
- being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
You will be liable to incur an AIN or have you airside access revoked
