MOCK Flashcards
How do you work out the LCM (lowest common multiple
e.g. LCM of 12 and 15 12 15 24 30 36 45 48 60 60
LCM = 60
How do you work out the HCF (highest common factor)
1) list factors that appear in both numbers
2) multiply together
e.g. HCF of 180 and 84
180= 2x2x3x3x5
84= 2x2x3x7
HCF= 2x2x3=12
What is the formula for compound interest
n= n0(1+r/100)n
How do you use the compound interest formula in this question:
-a man invests £1000 in a savings account which pays 8% compound interest per annum. How much will there be after 6 years
amount= 1000(1.08)^6
= £1586.87
find the upper and lower bounds of 9m
upper bound- 9.5m
lower bound- 8.5m
What does A U B mean in venn diagrams
-UNION: means a set that contains all the members in set A and B
e.g. F=2,5,6
G= 1,5,7
members of F U G= 1,2,5,6,7
What does A n B mean in venn diagrams
-INTERSECTION: a set that contains numbers that are members of both sets
What does n(A) mean in venn diagrams
- means the number of members in a set
e. g. members of L= 4,5,6,7
find n(L)- 4
what does A’ mean in venn diagrams
everything not in A
-e.g. members in whole venn diagram: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,1-
members in F= 3,6,9
members in F’= 1,2,4,5,7,8,10
What is the formula for speed, distance, time
Distance
Speed x Time
what is the mean
add up all the numbers and divide by how many there are
what is the mode
most frequent number
what is the range
- order the data from smallest to largest
- minus the largest number from the smallest
what is y= -f(x)
y= -f(x) is a reflection of y= f(x) in x-axis
-x axis = mirror line
what is y= f(-x)
reflection of y= f(x) in y-axis
