What type of screen do tablets use and what does it mean?
Capacitive touch screens. Smart phones use them too but that likely won’t be on the exam anyway since A+ certification is always a few years behind. Just like my ex’s intelligence. Oh, and it means it recognizes fingertip input.
What is E Ink?
E Ink is a special technology that creates a high-contrast, black and white display. Even though E Ink screens display only grayscale, they are great for e-readers because they consume much less power than LCD screens and their output can be seen even in direct sunlight.

It’s an older connector mainly used to connect to external hard drives and printers

It’s a smaller version of USB connector used for connections as well as charging external devices.
What is the Micro USB B connector and what is it used to connect to?
Same as the Mini USB B but smaller. It’s used for connections as well as charging external devices.
What is the Standard USB 3.0 B connector and what is it used for?
it’s a dual connection (top and bottom), allowing for higher transfer speeds.
What is the Micro USB 3.0 type B and what is it used for?
It’s a dual connection (side-by-side). It has the same connectivity as Standard 3.0.
What devices use serial interfaces?
Computers, routers, and switches
What does a serial interface allow devices to do?
Communicate via a stream of binary digits.
There may be control signals embedded in the stream to mark the beginning or end of characters or to enable parity.
What type of connector is a serial connector?
A 9-pin D connector, though some are proprietary

Near Field Communications
What is NFC used for and how does it work?
It’s a short range wireless technology that’s mostly used for tap and pay credit cards as well as transferring data between mobile devices.

What is Bluetooth?
A short range, low power wireless technology.
What range does Bluetooth have?
About 10 meters
What is Bluetooth used to connect to?
Earbuds, headphones, speakers, printers
What has to be done before two devices can connect to each other via Bluetooth?
They have to be paired
What is a HotSpot?
Allows the user to turn a smartphone into a WiFi connection that uses the cellular data to connect to the internet.
