  1. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  2. Primary lateral sclerosis (PLS)
  3. Progressive muscular atrophy (PMA)

A
  1. Clinical findings (eg. LMN, UMD, patterns of weakness)
  2. Family history
  3. Tests

What tests are used to diagnose MND? (5)

A
  1. Blood tests
  2. MRI
  3. EMG and nerve conduction study (NCS)
  4. Lumbar puncture to obtain CSF
  5. Tissue biopsy if EMG/NCS are inconclusive (rare)

  1. No cure, treatment is symptomatic
