MMT Shoulder/Elbow Flashcards
Serratus Anterior Action
Scapular Abduction, Upward rotation
Serratus Ant Nerve
LT C5-C7
Serratus MMT
Sitting, Shoulder flexed 130, pt pushes into flexion, PT resists
Serratus Palp
Hand along lower borders of scap with web at inferior angle
Upper Trap/Levator Scap Action
Scapular Elevation
Upper Trap Nerve
CN XI, C3-C4
Levator Scap Nerve
L3-L4, Dorsal Scap C5
Test for UT/LS
Sitting w/arms at side, pt shrugs, resistance downward
Below fair test for traps/lev scap
supine/prone
Palp for utraps/lev scap
Near insertion near clavical/cspine
sub for upper trap/lev scap
hands pushing down on legs/surface or rhomboids
Serratus below fair
therapist takes wt of arm and pt maintains abduction/UR
Middle Trap Action
Scapular Adduction
Middle trap test
prone, shoulder 90 abd, pt lift elbow towards celing and resistance applied downwards
middle trap below fair
therapist takes wt of arm
palp for middle trap
spine of scap from acromion to t1 to t6
middle trap sub
rhomboids- DR with adduction
Lower trap action
scapular depression
adduction
lower trap mmt
prone, arm abd 145, forearm mid postion, thumb at celing–pt lifts arm towards ceiling, resistance towards floor –elbow if strong shoulder, scap if weak shoulder
below fair lower tap
ther has weight of arm
palp for lower trap
below spine of scap and across T7-T12
Rhomboids Action
Scapular adduction
Scapular Downward rotation
Rhomboids Nerve
Dorsal Scap C5
Rhomboids MMT
Prone, shoulder IR, arm adduction w/ elbow flexed and arm on back – pt lifts hand, resistance proximal to elbow, resistance down and out
Rhomboids BF
ther takes wt of arm or short sitting
Rhomboids palp
deep under vertebral border of scap–stron gactivity- fingers will pop out
Rhomboids Sub
Don’t allow elbow to lead
Look for scap adduction w/o rotation (middle trap)
Anterior Delt,
Supraspin
CCB action
Shoulder Flexion
