MMT Flashcards
Muscle grades are no longer just 5,4,3
place hand on shoulder flexors to palpate
Scapular elevation
prime movers:
gravity-eliminated
PROM
sitting or standing,
levator scapulae, upper trapezius
laying down supine or prone
one way to do it is stabilize at front of shoulder and push scapula up with other hand
scapular depression
PROM
prime movers
resistance
therapist position
stabilize at shoulder
lower trap
cup under scapula and apply resistance going up
Stabilize at the shoulder. Resistance is applied at the scapula inferior angle in the direction of scapula elevation when testing
Scapular adduction (retraction)
prime movers
resistance
after doing AROM and PROM sitting, prone position-against gravity
middle trap, rhomboids
on the medial border
Scapular abduction (protraction)
prime movers
supine-against gravity
serratus anterior, pectoralis minor
humeral flexion
side-lying g elim
humeral extension
prone-against gravity
side-lying is gravity eliminated
teres major, latissimus dorsi, pectorals major(stenral head), posterior delt
humeral abduction
supine-g elim
humeral external rotation
prone w/ towel under arm-against gravity
prone but arm is fully hanging off side of table-gravity elim
stabilizing is at humerus and the other hand is at forearm
humeral internal rotation
stabilizing is at humerus and the other hand is at forearm
supine-gravity elim
against gravity-prone
horizontal abduction
gravity slim-support under arm
horizontal adduction
gravity slim-support under arm
