MMPI-A Flashcards
Major differences
K is measured but no K correction used in scoring other scales (overpathologizies)
When we didn’t have MMPIA we gave MMPI but didn’t use K → but they all came out looking normal
MMPI 2 norms overpathologize adolescents and MMPIA underpathologize
MMPI-A questions added for various age-specific domains:
o Peer group,
o attitudes towards teachers
o relationships with parents,
o eating dosrders
● also a lot of questions that have nothing to do with kids – e.g. occupation
Major changes to scale F, 5 and 0
Problem with F scale is that normal adolescents scores too high so needed to make it more unusually so only 5% different from conventional and not 10% as original MMPI
The number of adolescents with divorce parents were underrepresented
The MMPI-A is not as resilient as MMPI-2
?=30 question validity as opposed to ?=60
