what does MMADDTV stand for?
medication, miscellaneous, activity, dietary, diagnostic, treatment, vital signs
What are the vital signs?
- TPR - temperature, pulse rate, respirations
- BP- blood pressure
- SPO2- (saturation of peripheral oxygen) a noninvasive method of measuring oxygen in ones bloodstream
What is an Activity Order?
any order dealing with the mobility of the patient
ex: Bedrest/ may be up with walker/ crutch walking
define these activity order abbreviations: 1 AAT 2 BR 3 BRP 4 FWB 5 MOBILIZE 6 NWB 7 OOB 8 PWB 9 STRICT BR 10 UP AND LIB
1 activity as tolerated 2 bed rest 3 bathroom privileges 4 full weight bearing 5 get patient out of bed and moving 6 non-weight bearing 7 out of bed 8 pat weight bearing 9 strict bed rest 10 up as desired
What is a Dietary order?
any order that deals with patient nourishment
What is a Treatment Order?
Physician’s orders that require staff members (mostly nurses/ physiotherapists) to perform a specific treatment
What is a Medication Order?
Any drug prescribed for the patient while they are in the hospital will be put on a physician’s order form.
What is a Diagnostic order?
a physician’s order for any type of investigative testing
xray/ultrasound/ lab tests/ CAT scan/ MRI/ pulmonary tests/ electrocardiograms etc…
What is a Miscellaneous order?
orders of admissions, discharges, and transfers
List 3 components every physician’s order should have:
- date the order was written
- time the order was written
- physician signature
