What are the hours of work and rest on ship for adults?

Answer 1

Adults must not

Work consecutively for more than 14 hours as they must have 10 hours minimum in in any 24, broken into no more than 2 breaks with one being at least 6 hours.

Minimum 77 hours rest in any 7 day period.

Question 2

What are the hours of work and rest on ship for under 18s?

Answer 2

Young persons must

Have minimum of 12 hours rest in any 24 hours an 30 minutes break for every 4 and a half hours worked.

Not work at night for a period of 9 hours starting no later than midnight and no earlier than 5.

Have 2 days off per week.

Be presented with an original signed copy and an original shall be kept onboard for inspection
Agreement should be in English, if not then an English copy kept onboard.

Seafarer has the right to seek guidance before singing any agreement.

Seafarer must be given a record of their service at the end of the contract.
