Separating funnel

A

The mixture is shaken and then left to separate. The more dense liquid settles at the bottom and can be tapped off.

Filtration

A

A dissolved substance is poured through filter paper and collected in beaker. Dissolved substance is now the filtrate and can be evaporated, leaving salt crystals behind.
