- Intro and ID pt
- Verify med order
- Checked BG, dietary intake, and s/s r/t hypogly
- Verify allergies on MAR to wristband
- Hands, leaving room
- MAR 1+rights

Steps 8-14
A
- Expired?
- Mix NPH
- Clean vials
- Syringe
- Inject air in NPH
- Inject air in clear, keep it there
- Draw clear insulin first, with 2nd RN

- Draw NPH second, with 2nd RN
- MAR check 2+rights, 2nd RN too
- Label syringe: pt, med, route
- HANDS
- return to bedside
- scan client
- verify allergies on MAR

A
- MAR check #3+rights
- HANDS
- GLOVES
- ID landmarks (arm, leg, abdomen)
- Clean skin
- Inject @45-90
- Maintain syringe stability

Steps 29-32

- Count to 5 while injecting
- Withdraw and dispose/safety lock
- Hold pressure for 5 secs, don’t rub
- VErbalize documentation of site and 6 rights, as well as pt response
