Mitosis,Meiosis,Body organs Test Flashcards
Interphase
Cell divison begins
What happens in Mitosis?
- Produces two identical daughter cells
- Reproduces asexually
- Each daughter cell has same number of chromosomes as the original parent
Prophase
the duplicated chromosomes condence and become visible
Metephase
centromeres of the duplicated chromosomes line up across the center of the cell
Anaphase
chromosomes separate and move along spindle fibers to opposite ends of the cell
Telophase
chromosomes begin to spread out into a tangle of chromatin.
Cytocinisis
- splits one cell into two
- division of cytoplasm
Define Cancer
-body cells loose the ability to control growth
Meiosis
- Reduces the number of chromosomes by 1/2 (2n->n)
- Sexual Reproduction
- increases VARIATION
Halpoid vs. Diploid
Diploid:normal number of chromosomes;2 complete sets of chromosomes
Halpoid:1/2 the normal number of chromosomes;one set of chromosomes
What is a Gamete
egg or sperm cell
How do Mitosis and Meiosis differ?
- separation of chromosomes
- number of cells produced
- number of chromosomes each cell contains
- Meiosis=sexual
- Mitosis=asexual
Homoglomus pairs
pairs that respond in body cells.
tetrad?
2 Homoglomus pairs joined together
Zygote?
Fertilized egg cell
