Mitosis Cell Division Stages Flashcards
What happens in interphase
The longest process, where the cell grows , increases the amount of sub cellular structures and replicates it’s DNA
What happens in prophase
The membrane around the nucleus breaks down and the chromatids condense into chromosomes.
What happens in metaphase
The chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell
What happens in anaphase
Spindle fibres pull apart the chromosomes moving them to the opposite poles of the cell
What happens in telophase
Membranes form around the nuclear membrane of the new cells. And the spindle fibres begin to break down.
What happens in cytokinesis
Two diploid daughter cells genetically identical too each other and the parents are formed.
