Mitosis and Cytokinesis Flashcards
Characteristic of the cell cycle:
- Interphase (called G1, S, G2)
- the phases of Mitosis (called prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase);
- and plant and animal Cytokinesis.
a repeated pattern of growth and division that occurs in eukaryotic cells.
Cell Cycle
Where do cells spend the majority of their cell cycle for cell growth?
Interphase
It protects DNA and do not include genes.
Telomeres
Its purpose is cell division: making two cells out of one.
Mitosis
chromosomes condense and spindle fibers form.
Prophase
chromosomes condense and spindle fibers form.
Prophase
sister chromatids separate to opposite sides of the cell.
Anaphase
the new nuclei form and chromosomes begin to uncoil.
Telophase
the division of the cytoplasm into two individual cells.
Cytokinesis
The number and appearance of chromosomes
Karyotype
How does DNA make twins?
You know by now that the DNA replicates itself inside the nucleus. What you don’t know yet is how it makes a copy of itself.
