Mitosis and cell energy Flashcards
What are the 5 stages of mitosis?
Interphase. prophase. metaphase. anaphase. telophase
What happens in interphase?
DNA replication occurs.
The DNA chromatin unraveled.
what happens in prophase?
The nuclear membrane breaks down and the chromosomes condense.
what happens in metaphase?
Chromosomes line up at the equator.
Spindle fibers attach to chromosomes at the centromere.
what happens in anaphase?
spindle fibers contract and chromatids are pulled towards the poles.
what happens in telophase?
new nuclear membranes are formed.
separation.
Photosynthesis worded equation
Carbon dioxide + water –> glucose + oxygen
Where does photosynthesis occur?
In the chloroplast of plant cells.
Aerobic respiration equation
glucose + oxygen –> carbon dioxide + water + ATP
Where does aerobic respiration occur?
In the mitochondria of plant and animal cells
Anaerobic respiration equation
glucose –> lactic acid + ATP
Where does anaerobic respiration occur?
in the cytoplasm
