Mitosis Flashcards
Cell divison
Refers to way new cells are made from already existing ones. New cells are identical to the original one
Why do cells divide
Organisms divide in order to grow or replace cells that have been damaged. Dead cells must be replaced asexually by cells division.
Mitosis
Duplication of a cell and all its parts. It duplicates the DNA and two new cells (daughter cells) inherit exactly the same DNA pieces and genetic code. Two identical copies come from one original
Interphase
Normal state of cell during which it is completing its ductions. During interphase is when DNA is replicating and by the end of the phase it has made an identical copy of itself. Two replicated, identical copies o each chromosome are called are chromatid and are connected and held together at the centromere
