Mitosis Flashcards
1
Q
What are the 4 stages
A
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
2
Q
Prophase
A
Chromosomes condense and two identical chromatids are joined at the centromere
Nuclear envelope disappears
Centrioles from a spindle network, separate and move to opposite ends of poles
3
Q
Metaphase
A
Chromosomes move to the equator of the cell
Spindle fibres attach at the centromere
4
Q
Anaphase
A
Spindle fibres contract, separating the sister chromatids
Individual chromatids are pulled towards the poles - now chromosomes
5
Q
Telophase
A
Nuclear envelope forms around each set of chromatids, forming two nuclei
Chromatids uncoil and spindle fibres disintegrate
Cell surface membrane starts to invaginate at the equator of the cell
