supply on prescription
paragraph (1) of regulation 16
specifies the requirements on a prescription to supply a CD other than schedule 4 part 2 or schedule 5

a person supplying on a prescription a controlled drug, other than a drug specified in Schedule 4 or 5 shall, at the time of the supply—
(a) mark on the prescription the date on which the drug is supplied, and
(b) retain the prescription on the premises from which the drug was

- Previously an emergency supply of a Controlled Drug in Schedule 2, 3 or 4 was
not permitted at the request of a patient, with the exemption of phenobarbitone supplied for the treatment of epilepsy. - now can supply 5 days treatment of CD 2,3,4
- 10 days supply of midazolam, clobazam and clonazepam for treatment of epilepsy
How has emergency supply at prescriber request changed?
- Previously an emergency supply of a Controlled Drug in Schedule 2, 3 or 4 at the
request of a prescriber could not be made, with the exemption of
phenobarbitone supplied for the treatment of epilepsy. - Now a pharmacist can supply 5 days supply of CD2,3,4
