Mister D Flashcards

Q

Back Together Again
[Mending]

A

One of the machine’s default abilities is to repair. Somehow it has been programmed to transmute physical breaks back together. Do not ask what code allows for such magic.

At Will

  • Casting: 1 Min
  • Range: Touch
  • Duration: Instant

This spell repairs a single break or tear in an object you touch, such as a broken chain link, two halves of a broken key, a torn cloak, or a leaking wineskin. As long as the break or tear is no larger than 1 foot in any dimension, you mend it, leaving no trace of the former damage.
This spell can physically repair a magic item or construct, but the spell can’t restore magic to such an object.

Q

Sticks and Stones
[Absorb Elements]

A

Perhaps in response to the dangers various repairs can pose, such as sparking wires or the accidental fire, the repair drone has the defensive capability of partially absorbing various energies before expelling them back.

At Will

  • Casting: 1 Reaction
  • Range: Self
  • Duration: 1 Round

The spell captures some of the incoming energy, lessening its effect on you and storing it for your next melee attack. You have resistance to the triggering damage type until the start of your next turn. Also, the first time you hit with a melee attack on your next turn, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type, and the spell ends.

Q

Oil Leak

[Grease]

A

As common with most machinery, oil is used to keep the parts moving smoothly. Mister D seems to have sprung a leak at some point. Yet rather than repairing itself, the drone has developed the ability to increase internal pressure enough to shoot oil purposefully and with aimed intent.

At Will

  • Casting: 1 Action
  • Range: 60ft
  • Duration: 1 Min

Slick grease covers the ground in a 10-foot square centered on a point within range and turns it into Difficult Terrain for the Duration.
When the grease appears, each creature standing in its area must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature that enters the area or ends its turn there must also succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.

Q

Run, Mister D, Run!
[Expedious Retreat]

A

It does not matter that the drone is rather adequately armored, Zela will order him to retreat should the situation warrant it. For purely practical reasons, of course.

3x/Day

  • Casting: 1 Bonus Action
  • Range: Self
  • Duration: 10 Min or Less | Concentration

This spell allows you to move at an incredible pace. When you cast this spell, and then as a bonus action on each of your turns until the spell ends, you can take the Dash action.

Solder Soldier

[Heat Metal]

A

Ever cook a man alive? Turns out repair mechanisms can be used in some pretty questionable manners.

3x/Day

  • Casting: 1 Action
  • Range: 60ft
  • Duration: 1 Min | Concentration

Choose a manufactured metal object, such as a metal weapon or a suit of heavy or medium metal armor, that you can see within range. You cause the object to glow red-hot. Any creature in physical contact with the object takes 2d8 fire damage when you cast the spell. Until the spell ends, you can use a bonus action on each of your subsequent turns to cause this damage again. If a creature is holding or wearing the object and takes the damage from it, the creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or drop the object if it can. If it doesn’t drop the object, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the start of your next turn.

Q

Optimize
[Stone Shape]

A

Speaking of code not to be questioned, this repair drone knows how to transmute the stone it often simply drills through into a limited number of shapes and sizes, and with limited articulation. Curious that it seems able to conjure a doorway it cannot itself fit through–never mind the rest.

2x/Day

  • Casting: 1 Action
  • Range: Touch
  • Duration: Instantaneous

You touch a stone object of Medium size or smaller or a section of stone no more than 5 feet in any dimension and form it into any shape that suits your Purpose. So, for example, you could shape a large rock into a weapon, idol, or coffer, or make a small passage through a wall, as long as the wall is less than 5 feet thick. You could also shape a stone door or its frame to seal the door shut. The object you create can have up to two hinges and a latch, but finer mechanical detail isn’t possible.

Q

Damn Dirt
[Transmute Rock]

A

Mister D is especially talented at dealing with dirt, I guess?

2x/Day

  • Casting: 1 Action
  • Range: Touch
  • Duration: Instantaneous

You choose an area of stone or mud that you can see that fits within a 40-foot cube and that is within range, and choose one of the following effects:

Transmute Rock to Mud
Nonmagical rock of any sort in the area becomes an equal volume of thick and flowing mud that remains for the spell’s duration. If you cast the spell on an area of ground, it becomes muddy enough that creatures can sink into it. Each foot that a creature moves through the mud costs 4 feet of movement, and any creature on the ground when you cast the spell must make a Strength saving throw. A creature must also make this save the first time it enters the area on a turn or ends its turn there. On a failed save, a creature sinks into the mud and is restrained, though it can use an action to end the restrained condition on itself by pulling itself free of the mud.
If you cast the spell on a ceiling, the mud falls. Any creature under the mud when it falls must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d8 bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Transmute Mud to Rock
Nonmagical mud or quicksand in the area no more than 10 feet deep transforms into soft stone for the spell’s duration. Any creature in the mud when it transforms must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature becomes restrained by the rock. The restrained creature can use an action to try to break free by succeeding on a Strength check (DC 20) or by dealing 25 damage to the rock around it. On a successful save, a creature is shunted safely to the surface to an unoccupied space.
