Will be in the squadron a minimum of 15 minutes prior to brief time and in position NLT 5 minutes prior
What do you need to do prior to each brief?
Ensure boldface is complete
You are green in TIMS
Sign out formation, out-and-back, and low-level callsigns as well as formation AUX frequencies at the Ops Desk computer
Ensure 4-ship formations have two AUX discrete frequencies signed out
Check life support gear to prevent delays
What is brief time?
1+15 prior to takeoff for all blocks of training
What are the student responsibilities for the brief?
Room and boards neat and clean
Chairs as required
The current grade sheet called up
Lineup cards for planned and alternate missions
Pubs kids, sticks, and working dry erase pens available
What are student briefing responsibilities?
Current and forecast weather, status, AHAS, and applicable NOTAMs
What are 2-ship student briefing responsibilities?
#1 student briefs the EP #2 student briefs weather, AHAS, and NOTAMs
What are F57XX student briefing responsibilities?
#2 student briefs the EP #3 student briefs weather, AHAS, and NOTAMs #4 student briefs Threat of the Day/Weapon of the Day
What are the F58XX student briefing responsibilities?
Student briefs the weather, AHAS, NOTAMs, and Threat of the Day/Weapon of the Day
What do students need to do for low-levels?
Check AHAS bird status, schedule the route with the appropriate agency prior to the brief, and supply CHUMmed maps for all flight members
What are the priorities for the 4-ship briefing room?
1) IP Checkrides
2) 4-Ship
3) Z-Flight
What do you do with ORM?
The sheet will be discussed during the coordination briefing
PIC/Flight Leads will discuss CRM skills/tools to effectively mitigate the perceived risks of the briefed mission
PIC/Flight Leads will inform the Top-3 if ORM requires their approval, Sq/CC approval, or OG/CC approval
What is step time?
Pilots will be at the ops desk at takeoff-35 minutes
T51XX sorties will step at takeoff-45 minutes
2-Ship formation air-to-air TACAN setup
#1 will set the same channel as the AUX frequency (Ex. 25X) #2 will set that channel +63 (Ex. 88X)
4-Ship formation air-to-air TACAN setup
#1 will set the same channel as the AUX frequency (Ex. 25X) #2 will set the Y channel that corresponds to AUX +63 (Ex. 88Y) #3 will set the X channel of #2 (Ex. 88X) #4 will set the Y channel that corresponds with the AUX frequency (Ex. 25Y)
