Define a missing person
A
A person who is:
- Reported to the Police
- Whose whereabouts are unknown
- There are fears for the safety or concerns for the welfare of that person.

A
- Take complaint; obtain full details

Unable to adapt to environmental changes due to physical/mental condition

What to do when a missing person has been located?
A
- The whereabouts of that person must be kept confidential unless the person agrees to have the details released
- Interview the located person about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance
- If person is a child, look for child abuse indicators and consider referring the cases to Child, Youth and Family Services (CYFS)
- Enter details of the location and the reason for going missing into NIA. Remove alert from NIA and any broadcasts
- Advise the informant that the person has been found
- Update the Missing Person Report
