What is the definition of a missing person?
Any person who is reported missing to police
AND
Whose whereabouts are unknown
AND
There are fears for the safety, or concerns for the welfare of that person.
What are the three things you must consider when deciding whether genuine fears for the persons safety exist

What are the four categories missing people usually fall into

Who can report someone missing?
Anyone
How often is a missing person file reviewed?
After 3 days

What is a Coroner?
A person specially appointed to enquire into the manner of death of any person in any case where the coroners act 2006 requires the death to be reported to them.
What is a coroner equivalent to?
A District Court Judge
What is Section 13?
When a death needs to be reported (SCUMBIE)
Define SCUMBIE:
Suicide
Cause unknown/no doctors certificate
Unnatural or violent death
Medical or surgical or dental operation
Birth deaths or deaths as a result of pregnancy
Institutional deaths
Enactment requires the holding of an inquest ie. certain programmes

What is the second purpose of an inquest?
Prevention - to decide if it needs further investigating
What is the third purpose of an inquest?
To decide if it needs further investigating

Suicide
Any Institutional deaths
Any death in which the coroner is not satisfied that the cause or circumstances of death have been clearly established
