Setting
Defines the location of the narrative and sets the social/imaginary limits of the film. Will evoke a mood.
Hard Lighting
Lighting that produces hard, contrasting shadows.
Soft Lighting
Creates soft shadows that aren’t too noticeable.
Three Point Lighting System
Key Light: Primary lighting source that provides the main illumination
Fill Light: Reduces the contrast from the key light.
Back Light: Illuminates from the behind, brightening the edges.
Costume & Makeup
The clothing, accessories, and makeup constitute the primary means of characterization. It may support scenic realism by accurately portraying the clothing of people living in a specific time and place. Conveys cultural connotation.
Acting
The method by which a person portrays a character to portray an individual personality.
