Miscellaneous Theorems Flashcards
Linear Pair Postulate
If two angles form a linear pair, then they are supplementary
Congruent Complements Theorem
If A and B are complements and B and C are complements, then A is congruent to C.
Congruent Supplements Theorem
If A and B are supplements and B and C are supplements, then A is congruent to C.
Shortest Distance Theorem
The shortest distance from a line to a point not on it is the length of the line segment perpendicular to the line through the point
Parallel Postulate
Given a line and a point not on that line, there exists exactly one coplanar line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the given line
Perpendicular Bisector Theorem
The points on a perpendicular bisector are equidistant from the endpoints of the bisected line
Converse of Perpendicular Bisector Theorem
If a point is equidistant from both endpoints of a segment, then it is on the perpendicular bisector of that segment
Midpoint Theorem
If A is the midpoint of segment BC, then BA is congruent to AC
