Key updates to the Charities Act?
Effectively changes implemented to simplify administration of charities for trustees.
-Simplifying the procedure for the disposal of Charity land.
-Advice can now be taken from members of the CAAV or the National Association of Estate Agents
-A charity trustee can also provide the necessary advice provided they hold the expertise.
Key changes to UK National Supplement
Published 2023, came into effect in 2024
-Rotation requirements for regulated valuations such as fund valuations. 10 years for firms and 5 years for individuals responsible valuers.
- UK VPGA 8 valuation of charity assets to reflect the legislative reforms.
- Residential valuation guidance refined.
What is the role of the Valuation Office Agency and District Valuer?
A district valuer works on behalf of the VOA to check the validity/accuracy of valuations submitted to HMRC for tax purposes (e.g. CGT/IHT).

15 foot by 20 foot (4.5 x 6m)
Common asbestos found on farms?
Asbestos cement (white asbestos).
Hard to tell this against concrete fibre cement, however I would always err on the side of caution and inform the client in line with the Control of Asbestos regulations.
Requirements of firms under the Surveying Safely Professional Standard.
RICS regulated firms are obliged to ensure the health, safety and well being of people at work.

-Employers must control these substances. I’ve assisted in a risk assessment of substances, including their appropriate storage.
RICS update on PI for fire safety?
Following Grenfell, fire safety insurance was pulled from PI market.
Minimum wording standards updated in 2024 so RICS listed insurers must now offer this.
