24
Q

What would be 2 possible outcomes of an axillary nerve injury?

A

Dislocation of the shoulder, Fx of the surgical neck of the humerus

25
Q

What would be 3 possible outcomes of a radial nerve injury?

A

1) Radial Tunnel Syndrome - tenderness in extensor mass of forearm, long finger extension pain, weakness of finger and thumb extensors, and extensor carpi ulnas
2) Posterior Interosseous Nerve Syndrome
3) Wrist Drop

26
Q

What would be 3 possible outcomes of an ulnar nerve lesion?

A

1) Cubital Tunnel Syndrome - compression @ cubital tunnel at elbow – inability to grip paper
2) Guyon’s Canal Syndrome- sensory changes + progressive weakness of mm. innervated distal to site
3) Ulnar Claw Hand– hyperextension at 4th and 5th MCP, flexion at 4th and 5th IP

27
Q

What is the difference between an proximal and distal ulnar nerve lesion?

A

Proximal- can’t flex 4th and 5th digits

Distal- can’t extend 4th and 5th digits

28
Q

What are 3 possible outcomes of a median nerve injury?

A

1) Pronator Teres Syndrome - hypertrophy of pronator teres can compress median nerve, pronator terms = normal, other mm supplied by the median n. are affected + sensation

2) Carpal Tunnel Syndrom

3) Ape Hand Deformity– wasting of thenar eminence
