What is miscarriage?
Spontaenous expulsion of POC/pregnancy that occur before the viable gestational age, <22weeks
What is the symptoms of threatened miscarriage?
Patient present with pervaginal bleeding, <22 weeks with no cervical dilatation and POC passage.
What is the treatment of threatened miscarriage?
- Ward admission for observation
- Bed rest ×3 days
- Progesterone ( maintain pregnancy)
-Once stable,
-Discharge with advice - avoid coitus
-Follow up
What is Missed miscarriage’s symptoms?
-fetus already died but still retained in uterusfor viable perios with no os dilatation or passage of POC.
-no fetal heartsound
What is the treatment of missed miscarriage?
- induce labour, giving misoprostol
- IUCD ( cx; DIVC)
What is the symptoms of incomplete miscarriage?
-Short period of amonorrhea
- present with abdominal pain
- small per vaginal bleeding
- partial expulsion of POC
What is the treatment of incomplete moscarriage?
- Resus pateint if in shock
- D&C
What is the syptoms of inevitable miscarriage?
-Short period of ammonorhea, present
-Vagianl bleeding
-Abdominal pain
-Cervical dilatation <22weeks
-Expulsion of POC (complete)
What is septic miscarriage?
Any miscarriage with clinical evidence of infection uterus and its content
What is the treatement of septic miscarriage?
-Resus
-Broad spectrum antibiotic,
-give respective antibiotic after c&s result is out
- wait for 8 to 12 hours ( uterus is still soft, afraid of perforation)
- D&C
