Misc. W.E. Products Flashcards
What are the three non mineral elements that are most abundant in plants?
Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen
Why is Nitrogen essential for plant health?
It’s essential in the formation of protein, and protein makes up much of the tissues of most living things
What is Phosphorus’ role in plant health?
it is linked to a plant’s ability to use and store energy, including the process of photosynthesis
Name all of the Macronutrients:
Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Calcium, Magnesium
What are the functions of Magnesium in the plant?
It’s the central atom in the chlorophyll molecule
Aids in turgor regulation
Helps the plant become efficient with how it transfers energy
What is Potassium’s role in plant health?
It helps strengthen plants’ abilities to resist disease and plays an important role in increasing crop yields and overall quality. Potassium also protects the plant when the weather is cold or dry, strengthening its root system and preventing wilt.
What are some signs of magnesium deficiency?
• Color may progress from pale green to cherry
red with leaf margins exhibiting blotch red to
pink color.
• Leaf veins remain green and some light yellow
striping may occur between the veins.
Explain SGN Size:
Size Guide Number. Half of the granuals are larger than the SGN and half are smaller.
What Nitrogen Source has two times as high of a salt index compared to the other? Ammonium Sulfate and Urea.
Ammonium Sulfate has a salt index twice that of Urea
What are some of calcium’s functions within the plant?
Cell Division and Elongation
Cell Wall Strength
Signal molecule in plant response stimuli to light,
temperature, hormones, injury and disease infections
What functions does Sulfer play in plant?
It’s required for the synthesis of some enzymes and amino acids.
It helps bind Chlorophyll with Chloroplasts
Name all of the Micronutrients:
Iron, Zinc, Manganese, Copper, Boron, Chlorine, Molybdenum
