Predictable
Dose or duration related
Due to known properties of the drug
Lower risk
eg. Bleeding with warfarin
TYPE B- 15% (most are allergies)
Unpredictable
Allergy, intolerance, idosyncratic
Higher mortality
eg. Penicillin anaphylaxis, NMS
