What is risk of secondary cancers after EBRT?
A
Long term effects from alders study show 30% vs 25% in pts who had EBRT vs obs ( all got brachytherapy). In < 60 yrs more profound 40% vs 25%. Breast ca actually decreases ( adipose got RT?)

What are the advantages of HDR ?
A
After loading to decrease exposure to medical personnel, patient immobilization is short, side effects such as DVT are decreased, general anesthesia is typically avoided, outpatient, cost, decreased pt discomfort

For the side effects of radiation, proctosigmoiditis how do you treat?
A
Steroid enemas, hyperbaric oxygen

How do you treat radiation related cystitis
A
Hydration, antispasmodics, vitamin E, pentoxifylline, blood transfusion and CBI
