Mirror quiz Flashcards
Spherical abberation
an optical distortion where light rays passing through different parts of a lens or mirror focus at varying distances, resulting in a blurry or imperfect image.
Huygen’s principle (law of reflection)
Angle of reflection equals angle of incidence.
illumination vs illuminance
“illumination” refers to the act of providing light or the state of being lit, while “illuminance” is the measure of how much light is falling on a surface, measured in lux (lumens per square meter)
real image
the collection of focus points actually made by converging/diverging rays
virtual image
an upright image that is achieved where the rays seem to diverge
electromagnetic waves
a wave that consists of oscillating electrons and magnetic fields which radiate outward from the source at the speed of lights
reflection
the change in direction of an electromagnetic wave from the surface
angle of incident
the angle between a ray that strikes a surface and the line perpendicular to that surface at the point of contact
angle of reflection
the angle formed by the line perpendicular to a surface and the direction in which a reflected rays moves.
