What was a polis?
A city state - eg. Athens, Corinth, etc.
Physical aspect of a polis
held together by geographical features, had its own government each with its own customs, religion, and practices.
Spiritual aspect of a polis
Spread of culture, religion, in the certain polis- VERY strong community with shared heritage, culture, ancestry, etc. This made it an extremely united and tight-knit community where culture and religion developed.
Theogony
Narrative of the gods, human nature, and the nature of sin in the world. Hesiod begins the poem by emphasizing the cohesive nature of his world, one in which the human, the divine, and the natural comingle.
