What are the symptoms of Non - productive (Dry cough)

• No phlegm or mucus
• Starts as a tickle behind the throat that causes coughing
• Can be very irritating especially at night, leading to difficulty in sleeping.
• Cough can be habit forming

What is post nasal drip?

• Patient may have had previously “Productive cough” and there may be some mucus remaining which may be dripping from the back of the nose to the throat, which can also irritate and trigger cough which is worse at night.

• Usually “Upper respiratory track infection” caused by virus and spread by droplets.

• Contagious (communicable disease), so close proximity to others who are infected.
• Low or underdeveloped immune response (infants)
