What was the difference in the use of ships between the Minoans and the Mycenaeans?
The Minoans used ships mainly for trade and built them to defend themselves against pirates. The Mycenaeans built their ships following the Minoan design, and used them for piracy.
What caused the Dark Age in Greece?
The Mycenaeans attacked Troy and kept on instigating a series of civil wars.
Where does most of our information about the Trojan War come from?
Homer’s Iliad.
During the Dark Age, what was the Aegean world cut off from?
They were cut off from the Middle East and other civilizations surrounding them. All trade stopped.
What were some of the effects of the Dark Age?
The Greeks completely lost their culture. There was no trade. The Aegean world was cut off from the Middle East. There was a lot of fighting and many civil wars within Greece.
How did Minoan cities differ from Mycenaean cities?
Minoan cities had no walls and Mycenaeans built fortress-palaces.
What was the most important room in the fortress-palace called? What happened in that room?
Megaron; the king or noble would entertain important guests and hold council meetings in this room.

How were Minoan cities different from typical cities in their time period?
They did not have a temple in the centre of their city, they had a palace.
What were some of the features of the palace in Knossos?
The palace had hot and cold running water, bathtubs, and flush toilets. It took up 1/5th of the entire city.
