A substance thatis formed naturally in the earth, is inorganic, has a definate chemical compistion and has a crystal structure.
Streak
the color of the mineral’s powder when it is rubbed against a porcelain plate.
Luster
The way the surface of a mneral reflects light.

th ability to scratch a mineral or to be scratched by another mineral.
cleavage
the tendanchy of a crystal or a mineral to break along definate planes resulting in smooth surfaces.
Fracture
the appearence of a freshly broken surface on a mineral that ahas a rough or iregular sruface.
Mohs hardness scale
a hardness scale to classify mineral.
Formula
A set of chemical symbols showing the makeup of a cheimcal compound.
