-participant is drawn as the “teacher”
-the “learner” (an actor) is strapped into a chair with electrodes and is asked a series of questions and the teacher is told to shock the learner when he answers incorrectly
learner deliberately answers the questions wrong and says a number of prod”s to ensure the participant shocks him (such as the experiment requires you to continue!)
-this continues until the participant reaches full voltage or refused to continue
