Identify the steps of the upgrade process.

Answer 1

1. Get your user and Run As account credentials, and your setup.exe files
2. Customizations? SSL, port and time out values, custom logos…
3. Check hardware requirements
4. Do you have the right bit version?
5. Check product maintenance status
6. Create a clean backup
7. Uninstall the earlier version.
8. Run installer on new setup file.

What are the steps to performing a clean install?

Answer 2

Same as regular upgrade, but make sure to manually delete the TS directory after uninstalling the program. Both Program Files and Program Data.

Why would we want to perform a clean install?

Answer 3

When you do not want to automatically import your existing content to the new version once you upgrade.

What are the steps to migrating Server to different hardware?

Answer 4

1. Install Server on new hardware
2. Copy your .tsbak file to the bin folder on new Server
3. Stop Server
4. tabadmin restore –no-config
5. Start Server
6. Deactivate the license on the old installation of TS, then uninstall it.
