What is the definition of Multicultural?

A

This is where society is made up of many different cultures, which may include different nationalities, beliefs, values and social customs. This term has a wider scope than multiracial which only refers to race, and multi-faith which applies only to religion.

A

Before 18th Century: Only non-Christian religion that most Europeans had come into contact with peacefully was Judaism.
By 18th Century: Europeans knew about other world religions. ‘Religion’ become a generic term.
By 20th Century: Religious diversity became more immediate following immediate immigration.

Freedom of religion as human right in European Law?

A

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 18 stipulates that there should be freedom of thought, conscience and religion, for theistic, non-theistic and atheistic beliefs. EU and British law also uphold these rights. It is therefore the law to prohibit or restrict the practise of religion.
