Up until 2015 syrains could cross the border into lebanon easily until quite recently
-oppurtunity to set up a business and create a better life
- greater political stablility
- lebanon shares a 365km close proximity
- friends and family prompt syrians to join them’
- lebanon is neighbouring and therefore there is a short distance to travel

    -increased mechanisation of farms , unemployment has risen, rural 40% in 2005
    -low paying jobs lower standard of living

  • english is the main second language tagut in schools , making the UK more attractuve
