an idea is tested by asking series of questions to determine underlying beliefs and the extent of knowledge to guide a person toward better understanding.
Socratic method
A teacher wanting a student to learn the difference between right and wrong. The student might say that every person knows the difference between right and wrong. The teacher would reply with a series of questions that ask the student to consider their perspective. What type of method is this?

III. Virtue is necessary to attain happiness. (Eudaimonia)
