music instrument digital interface, does not create sound, interprets it
Tells what instrument is supposed to be played, how long it’s supposed to be played for, what notes,
Different numbers would give different instruments, but each instrument’s code was the same every time
If the number was changed the instrument was changed. Prior to this, things had to be written separately if the composer wanted to change the instrument.
