~calms the spirit & relieves depression

Any cautions/C/A with Valeriana officinalis?
~w sleep meds & barbiturates as it can potentiate their effects
~large doses cause drowsiness
~can produce mild dependency & eventually cause same symptoms that is initially relieved- best used intermittently

~contra= hormonal BC pills and antidepressants

Difference with Nervine/sedative/spirit calming herbs with oatstraw?
is natural & very nourishing for a depleted nervous system, however it is not sedating like the other Spirit calming herbs.
Difference with Nervine/sedative/spirit calming herbs with Passifora?
Is nourishing & thus can be used for all types of Spirit disturbance. It is cooling & treats insomnia, anxiety, pains fo various origins, seizures and spasms.
Difference with Nervine/sedative/spirit calming herbs with California poppy?
is cool, bitter and draining, and is therefore generally applied in hot conditions especially excess heat. Insomnia, pain and anxiety are the main symptoms treated by California poppy.
Difference with Nervine/sedative/spirit calming herbs with Skullcap?
is cooling and quiets and strengthens the entire nervous system, helps resolve depression and quiets the spirit. It is also useful in Liver-wind conditions.
Difference with Nervine/sedative/spirit calming herbs with Valerian?
is our only warm sedating herb. It is therefore useful in cooler, Xu conditions. It dries dampness & is is also wonderful for pain relief.
Difference with Nervine/sedative/spirit calming herbs with St. Johns wort?
Is widely used for mild to moderate depress. It is cooling, relieves pain and has wonderful topical uses.
