Duties of a D.P?
- Requests the gaffer and key grip
- Instructs the camera operator how to frame shots/ camera movement
- Designs lighting and look of project
- Compiles a list of technical equipment required
- Chooses lenses per shot
Duties of a Gaffer?
- Works directly under the DP
- Oversees and provides all Lighting Equipment needed for a given set up
- Runs the grip and electric crew
Duties of a Key Grip?
- Works under the DP and Gaffer
- Runs just the Grip Crew
- Oversees all non-electrical support gear like: camera rigs, rigging, shaping, cutting, coloring and diffusing light.

Types of equipment orders a DP creates for vendors and producers before a shoot?
Grip/lighting equipment order
When leveling tripod legs on uneven ground, what 2 things should you do?
- 1st place 1 leg on the higher ground and the other 2 legs on the lower ground
- 2nd unlock 1st lowest leg. Place foot on base of leg, raise it until head is nearly level. Re-lock the leg. Repeat process for each leg one at a time until head is level.
After opening and setting the head and legs on the ground, the 1st thing you do before building the camera is

A fluid pan has many parts. What are they?

Before building the camera on head and legs, how should all head settings be adjusted?
- Bubble is centered in circle
- Sliding base plate should be centered and locked
- Springs/Counterbalance should not be engaged (off/0)
- Pan and tilt friction should be set at 0 (ALL THE WAY OFF)
- Tilt and Pan locks should be locked

- Stand to the side of camera. Unlock the tilt and pan locks and set the head/camera level to the floor.
- Unlock the sliding base plate.
