Linear perspective

Ephemeral art
Art that is intended not to last or purposely designed to deteriorate or be destroyed.
Abstract art
Art that is not connected to the real world and considered to be non representational.
Representational art
Art that represents objects or events in the real world and usually easily recognizable.
Why study art?
Visual representation of history, culture, expression, and many other reasons.
Roles of the artist?
Makes a visual record of people, places, and events of their time.
Help show world in new or innovative ways.
Make functional objects and structures more pleasurable and elevate or imbue them with meaning.
Artists give new form to the immaterial: hidden or universal truths, spiritual forces or personal feelings.
Elements of art
Shape, form, line, color, texture, space, value
Color theory
Practical guidance for mixing colors through the color wheels: primary colors(red, yellow, blue), secondary colors(purple, orange, green), tertiary colors(mixtures of primary and secondary colors)
Light theory
The use of lighting in photographs and shading in drawings and paintings to show give new perspectives in an art piece.
Drawings
The purpose of drawings are to illustrate text, experiment with composition, sketches, self expression, and drawings.
Realism
Artworks that strongly resemble what the eye sees.
Photo realism
Art works so realistic it resembles a photograph
Naturalism
Artworks contain realistic elements but are shown from a subjective point of view
Non objective
Art that doesn’t refer to the natural or objective world at all
The treachery of art
Work of art known as, “This is not a pipe”, where it exploits that the art is an image of something and not the physical object.
