Midterm Flashcards
1
Q
How to find the horizontal asymptotes:
A
When the degrees are the same on top and bottom:
Divide the coefficients of the highest degree.
When the degree in the top is higher than the one in the bottom:
No horizontal asymptote. Find oblique asymptote by dividing.
When the degree in the bottom is higher than the one on the borrow:
y=0
2
Q
How to find the vertical asymptotes:
A
Set the denominator (the bottom) = to zero
3
Q
What is the intermediate theorem?
A
Plug in the given numbers and if there is a change of signs then the function has a zero between the given numbers because it means there is above me below zero.
4
Q
Difference quotient formula
A
f(X+H)-f(X)/h
