National Security
protect the citizens from attacks from other foreign countries or from terrorism. EX. national guard, military
Command Economy
An economic system in which the government decides how much to produce, what to produce, and how to distribute the goods and services provided (Communist).
Traditional Economy
original economic system in which traditions, customs, and beliefs shape the goods and the services the economy produces, as well as the rules and manner of their distribution.
Free Market Economy
An economic system in which buyers and sellers make free choices in the marketplace.
Mixed Market Economy
An economy in which free enterprise is combined with and supported by government decisions in the marketplace.
Direct Democracy
the peoplw govern themselves by voting on issues individually as citizens.
Representative Democracy
the people elect representatives and give them the responsibility and power to make laws and conduct government.
Rule of Law
the ROL needs to be in written form, the people should have the right to change/ edit it.
EX. mention people obeying or breaking.
Concent of the Governed
the people of a nation must consent to what takes place in governemnt.
EX. voting/ protests
Checks and Balances
the branches of government use their powers on each other.
Equal Protection
every person is equal under the law.
EX. people being treated fairly.
Separation of Powers
power is separated through the the legislative, execuative, and judicial branches.
Federalism
more than one level of government.
EX. national, state & local
Popular Sovereignty
the people are able to express their government beliefs. Similar to Concent of Governed.
