tonic - supertonic - mediant - subdominant - dominant - submediant - leading
What do relative keys share?
Relative keys share the same key signature. G Maj and E min are relative keys because they both have 1 sharp in their key signature.
What do parallel keys share?
Parallel keys share the same root starting note. C Maj and C min are parallel keys because both of their roots are C.
What is piccardy 3rd?
When composers ended a minor song in a Major key.
What is Harmonic minor?
When a natural minor’s 7th is raised a half step so that the leading tone resolves better to the 8th.
-there is now an Aug 3rd between the 6th and 7th
What is Melodic minor?
When a natural minor’s 6th and 7th are raised, so that the 7th better pushes to the 8th and there isn’t an Aug 3rd between the 6th and 7th
-when written out, descends in natural minor!
