Buddhists avoid smoking and drinking in their pursuit of salvation.
What is a Menorah?
A light used during Hanukah in Jewish tradition.
What is the Hanukah miracle?
Only enough oil to last one night but it lasted 8 nights.
Eat oily foods to represent the miracle.
What do Jews follow?
They follow the Torah.

A tool first developed to study scripture.

What are the Synoptic Gospels?
Matthew, Mark, and Luke, which share a common view focusing on Jesus’ humanity.
How does the Gospel of John differ from the Synoptic Gospels?
John focuses more on the divine aspect of Jesus.
Because the first 3 are written closer to Jesus’ time- show more of his humanity
John wants to solidify the belief that Jesus is divine

The figure after whom our school is named.
When was Islam founded?
Islam was founded in 622 CE by Mohammed the prophet.
What do Muslims believe about Islam?
“Islam always was” - they believe the faith has always existed.
What are the Five Pillars of Islam?
Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, Hajj.
What are common Islamic beliefs?
No alcohol, monotheism, pray 5 times a day, do not believe in original sin, do not believe that Jesus is God.
Who was St. Thomas Aquinas?
A Dominican priest, theologian, philosopher, and known as the Angelic doctor.
What are the 5 ways to prove God’s existence according to Aquinas?
- Argument from motion
- From experience of an instance of efficient causation
- Distinction between contingent and necessary being
- Judgements on perfection
- Natural world order and arrangement.
What do the first three ways of proving God’s existence focus on?
They discuss God as the FIRST-NECESSARY being.

They explore perfection and order, asserting God as the intelligent designer.

A belief held as absolute and without possibility of change, such as those related to Jesus, the Church, and the Apostles.
