- circular motion
- continuous circle with both hands
- CW: constipation
- CCW: diarrhea
rubbing (round rubbing) - face/head
- YIN TANG area
2. TAI YANG area
kneading - back
- use thumbs with the fingers spread out on back
- closer to UB channel
- downward pressure with circular motion
*do not cause friction over skin
rolling - back/lower back
- use dorsal aspect of hand, with particularly lateral side of palm and knuckles
- keep hand attached to area
- dorsal side of hand rolls to middle finger
- coordinate forearm with wrist movement
*like rolling dough out with a rolling pin
pulling - wrist
- use both hands
- stabilize/grab from thumb and little finger
*sudden elongation/extension movement
pulling - neck
- use both hands
2. stabilize one hand on occiput, one hand under chin
traction - wrist/ankle
- use both hands
2a. wrist - grab same as pulling
2b. ankle - grab SP3 and grab heel
- gradual elongation movement
- motion parallel to spine
carrying - leg
??????
pinching - knee/elbow/shoulder
- put hands together
- open palms
- equal and opposite pressure
- use elbows (lateral to medial)
plucking - shoulder
- patient in PRONE position
2. initially grasp, then PLUCK

- make a cup with hand
- stabilize with one hand
- pat down the channel
beating - back/leg
- patient in PRONE position

- use the outside hand to roll CW and CCW to aid in foulage movement
foulage - lower arm
- stabilize distal to wrist with knees/upper legs
2. use both ulnar sides of the forearms to foulage the lower arm
foulage - back
- free hand leads the foulage down the back
2. use other forearm to move across back, downwards
